Urgent new video: Sam Pepper Exposed
Here are the disturbing unheard stories happening behind closed doors, other YouTube offenders to watch out for, and what we can do about it.
Reasons why Lilo and I are the same person.
The more I spoke about feminism, the more I realized that fighting for women’s rights has too often become synonymous with man-hating. If there is one thing I know for certain is that this has to stop. For the record, feminism by definition is the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities. It is the theory of political, economic and social equality of the sexes. […] You might think: who is this Harry Potter girl? What is she doing at the UN? I’ve been asking myself at the same thing. All I know is that I care about this problem and I want to make this better. And having seen what I’ve seen and given the chance, I feel my responsibility to say something.
Today I posted a video on recent controversy among the YouTube community. If you don’t know who Sam Pepper is (to be honest, I didn’t really until before this week), you should know that he’s a YouTuber who consistently creates misogynistic content for his large and young audience.
This week, he posted a video in which he “pranked” unsuspecting women on the street by grabbing their butts without their knowledge. This is sexual assault.
Sexual assault is sexual assault, and even if you try to cover it up by calling it a “prank” or a “social experiment” it is still, nonetheless, sexual assault.
Regardless of the fact that he later posted a follow-up video that attempted to justify this “prank”, you do not sexually assault people to prove that sexual assault is wrong.
Watch this to understand what I mean.
Gender equality is important because I want my children to grow up knowing that they don’t have to act a certain way to be their gender.
I want my daughter to know that she doesn’t have to like pink or put flowers in her hair. I want her to know that she can laugh as loud as she wants and that…
When I was younger I was obsessed with perfection. I was obsessed with the idea of perfection, I was obsessed with seeming perfect to others, I was obsessed with people that seemed perfect.
This obsession came from a deep source inside myself; my own festering insecurities. To overcome my…
This is Sam Pepper. If you don’t know who he is, Sam is a successful YouTube prankster with over 2 million subscribers. He recently uploaded a video titled “Fake Hand Ass Pink Prank" where he pinched unsuspecting girls’ butts without their permission. None of this was done with the girls’ consent…meaning Sam Pepper sexually harassed and assaulted these women.
This is no longer a “simple, harmless prank” but rather a very serious matter and offence. If you haven’t seen the video yet, you can watch, dislike, and report it HERE. You can also take the pledge to help stop sexual violence at itsonus.org. Please do not let Sam get away with this kind of behavior. He crossed the line and needs to be held responsible for his disgusting actions.
Can we, as a community, stop supporting people who do things like this? And while we’re at it can we stop supporting racist YouTubers and Viners? (Note: It doesn’t matter if there’s a PoC in the video/Vine/movie/etc.) Homophobic? Transphobic? General assholes? There’s a trend of people being really successful at doing terrible things, and they get the community’s support because of their success. I don’t care if they’re “cute” or have the haircut you like—there are thousands of other people to entertain you that don’t do shitty things.
it’s not that deep, if they wanted to do something about it they would of. It’s not like he pinched your bums..
it’s not like I’ve been raped either but it doesn’t make rapist any less horrible??? what kinda nonsense????
Fuck outta here with this “well, if they wanted to do something they would have” argument. That girl saying “I don’t like that. No” wasn’t VOCAL enough for you?? Can we talk about how all of these girls looked underage? Sam is what? 25? You’re gonna GROPE teenage girls on the street and because you’re filming it you think it’s okay. This is evidence. Idiot.
He is BLESSED that I wasn’t there to witness this. I would have fucked up all of his footage by following him and loudly proclaiming how this perverted dude was touching girls on the street. I would have called the cops and gladly pointed to his camera man when they asked for proof.
Everyone at third street promenade, where Sam shoots all of these “prank” videos where he touches girls, handcuffs girls and basically uses street harassment as a gag, KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN AND REPORT HIM IMMEDIATELY.
People are all up in arms about Sam Peppers video but guys, didn’t you see he hugged them and apologized. I know it’s wrong, but it’s not rape for god sakes. It’s violation but he apologizes.
Also, if it was Zoella or Louise and they were pinching boys bums then…
Thanks for taking the time to read this letter. As fellow YouTubers, we have much respect for others who put so much hard work into building their channel. It’s not easy, and you should be proud! That said, we’ve noticed that in your success, there has been a lack of respect in…
